After a sudden surge in popularity, the actress was offered roles on major screens including Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. In Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave an outstanding performance as Japanese criminal O-Ren Ishii. Around this same time she was also in box-office flops like Rise: Blood Hunter.
