Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speaking. Feminist Frequency is a site that hosts videos and commentaries on the representation of women in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, critic of the media and award-winning feminist for nearly a decade. Feminist Frequency, a website dedicated to education, which examines women's role in the narratives of pop culture It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. Additionally, she serves as the director of operations. Dispelling stereotypes of women is her main focus. But, she also explores the issue of specific harassment of women on the internet and for other groups who are excluded. Sarkeesian, who holds a Master's in Political and Social thought at York University, is a sought after public speaking. She has delivered speeches at the TEDxWomen festival as well as United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. Inquiring about gender identities and feminisms from an early age she launched her website Feminist Frequency in 2009 while still a student at the university. A woman with ambitions to create a web series that examined the representation of gender in video games was targeted in the internet campaign. She was not deterred by the assault, the fact is that it only bolstered her determination to be feminist and media critic.
